Who is God

The Bible speaks about God in many ways. God has actually revealed Himself in His own Word. He has answered the question of all questions, “Who is God?”

A.  The God of Gods

Deuteronomy 10:17 
For it is Jehovah your God who is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who does not regard persons and does not take bribes;

Joshua 22:22
The Mighty One, God Jehovah; the Mighty One, God Jehovah; He knows, and may Israel itself know, whether it was in rebellion, or whether it was in trespass against Jehovah—may You not save us today

Psalm 136:2
Give thanks to the God of gods, For His lovingkindness is forever.

Daniel 2:47
The king answered Daniel and said, It is certain that your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a Revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.

Daniel 11:36
And the king will do as he pleases; and he will exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and against the God of gods he will speak extraordinary things; and he will prosper until the indignation is complete; for what has been determined will be done.

B.  The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

Matthew 22:32 
“I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob”?  He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Mark 12:26
But concerning the dead, that they are raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the section concerning the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, “I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob”?

Luke 20:37
But that the dead are raised, even Moses disclosed in the section concerning the bush, when he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.

Acts 3:13
The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

Acts 7:32
“I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.”  And Moses trembled and dared not examine it.

C.  The God of Our Fathers

Acts 3:13
The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

Acts 5:30
The God of our fathers has raised Jesus, whom you slew by hanging Him on a tree.

Acts 22:14
And he said, The God of our fathers has previously appointed you to know His will and to see the righteous One and to hear the voice from His mouth;

Acts 24:14
But I confess this to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, so I serve the God of our fathers, believing all the things that are written in the Law and in the Prophets;

D.  The God of the Hebrews

Exodus 3:18 
And they will listen to your voice, and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you shall say to him, Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us; and now let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness that we may sacrifice to Jehovah our God.

Exodus 5:3
And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us.  Please let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness that we may  sacrifice to Jehovah our God; otherwise He will fall upon us with pestilence or sword.

Exodus 7:16
And you shall say to him, Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, Let My people go that they may serve Me in the wilderness.  But until this very moment you have not listened.

Exodus 9:1
Then Jehovah said to Moses, Go to Pharaoh, and speak to him, Thus says Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, Let My people go that they may serve Me.

Exodus 9:13
And Jehovah said to Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and present yourself before Pharaoh, and say to him, Thus says Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, Let My people go that they may serve Me.

Exodus 10:3
And Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh and said to him, Thus says Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go that they may serve Me.

E.  The God of Israel

Matthew 15:31 
So that the crowd marveled, because they saw the dumb speaking, the crippled healthy and the lame walking, and the blind seeing.  And they glorified the God of Israel.

Luke 1:68
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and accomplished redemption for His people,

Acts 13:17
The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and exalted the people during their sojourn in the land of Egypt, and with a high arm He led them out of it.

F.  The God of the Living

Matthew 22:32 
“I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob”?  He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Mark 12:27
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.  You err greatly.

Luke 20:38
Now He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all men are living.

G.  The God of the Spirits

Numbers 16:22 
But they fell on their faces and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, will one man sin and You be angry with the whole assembly?

Numbers 27:16
Let Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the assembly,

H.  The God of Justice

Isaiah 30:18 
And therefore Jehovah waits to be gracious to you, And therefore He remains on high to have compassion on you; For Jehovah is a God of justice; Blessed are those who wait for Him.

Malachi 2:17
You have wearied Jehovah with your words; but you say, How have we wearied Him?  By saying, Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of Jehovah, and He delights in them; or, Where is the God of justice?

I.  The God of Truth

Deuteronomy 32:4 
The Rock—perfect is His work, for all His ways are justice: A God of faithfulness and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.

Psalm 31:5
Into Your hand I commit my spirit; Redeem me, O Jehovah, God of truth.

Isaiah 65:16
So that he who blesses himself in the earth Will bless himself in the God of faithfulness, And he who swears in the earth Will swear by the God of faithfulness; Because the former troubles are forgotten And because they are hidden from My sight.

J.  The God of Salvation

Psalm 68:20 
God is to us A God of deliverance, And with Jehovah the Lord Are the goings forth even from death.

K.  The God of My Salvation

Psalm 18:46 
Jehovah lives; and blessed be my rock, And exalted be the God of my salvation,

Psalm 25:5
Guide me in Your truth, and teach me; For You are the God of my salvation; I wait on You all the day long.

Psalm 27:9
Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in Your anger; You have been my help.  Do not abandon me or forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Psalm 51:14
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, O God of my salvation; And my tongue will ring forth Your righteousness.

Psalm 88:1
O Jehovah, the God of my salvation, I have cried out by day and in the night before You.

Micah 7:7
But as for me, I will look for Jehovah; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

Habakkuk 3:18
Yet I will exult in Jehovah; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.

L.  The God of Our Salvation

1 Chronicles 16:35 
And say, Save us, O God of our salvation; And gather us and deliver us out of the nations, That we may give thanks to Your holy name, That we may glory in Your praise.

Psalm 65:5
By awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation, You who are the trust of all the ends of the earth And of the remotest sea;

Psalm 68:19
Blessed be the Lord, who day by day loads us with good; God is our salvation.  Selah.

Psalm 79:9
Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us and expiate our sins, For Your name’s sake.

Psalm 85:4
Restore us, O God of our salvation, And cause Your indignation toward us to cease.

M.  The God of Heaven

Revelation 11:13 
And in that hour there was a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell; and seven yousand men were killed in the earthquake, and the rest became terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Revelation 16:11
And blasphemed the God of heaven for their pains and for their sores; and they did not repent of their works.

N.  The God of Heaven and Earth

Ezra 5:11 
And they returned us an answer in this way, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth and are rebuilding the house that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.

O.  The God of Bethel

Genesis 31:13 
I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you vowed a vow to Me.  Rise up now; go out from this land, and return to the land of your birth.

P.  The God of Jerusalem

2 Chronicles 32:19 
And they spoke against the God of Jerusalem as they had against the gods of the peoples of the land, the work of men’s hands.

Ezra 7:19
And the vessels that are given to you for the service of the house of your God, deliver in full before the God of Jerusalem.

Q.  The God of the Spirits of the Prophets

Revelation 22:6 
And he said to me, These words are faithful and true; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show to His slaves the things which must quickly take place.

R.  The God of Peace

Romans 15:33 
Now the God of peace be with you all.  Amen.

Romans 16:20
Now the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.  The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

Philippians 4:9
The things which you have also learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things; and the God of peace will be with you.

1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 13:20
Now the God of peace, He who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, in the blood of an eternal covenant,

T.  The God of Love and Peace

U.  The God of All Grace

1 Peter 5:10 
But the God of all grace, He who has called you into His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself perfect, establish, strengthen, and ground you.

V.  The God of Glory

Acts 7:2 
And he said, Men, brothers and fathers, listen.  The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,

W.  The God of Jacob

Acts 7:46 
Who found favor before God and asked to find a habitation for the God of Jacob.

X.  The God of Endurance and Encouragement

Romans 15:5 
Now the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind toward one another according to Christ Jesus,

Y.  The God of Hope

Romans 15:13 
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Z.  The God of Measure

2 Corinthians 10:13 
But we will not boast beyond our measure but according to the measure of the rule which the God of measure has apportioned to us, to reach even as far as you.
